Hollywood’s biggest benefactor to the Democrats is moving closer still to the presumed heavyweight contender for the 2016 Presidential nomination. DreamWorks Animation boss Jeffrey Katzenberg will be co-hosting a big ticket Tinseltown fundraiser on October 20 for the Democrats Senate candidates with Hillary Clinton as the marquee attraction. While a regular on the speaker’s circuit since leaving the State Department and widely supported out on the West Coast, this will be Clinton’s first formal forray into Hollywood fundraising for the upcoming Congressional elections. Democrats Desperate For Hollywood Cash? Obama Back In LA For Gwyneth Paltrow Hosted Fundraiser
At $32,400 as the top ticket price, the Casey Wasserman co-hosted event later this month will however be yet another ring of the Hollywood cash register for the party coming less than two weeks after President Barack Obama is in town for a DNC fundraiser at Gwyneth Paltrow’s place. While its not known if Katzenberg will be at Paltrow’s, the DWA CEO has been Obama’s biggest bundler over the years, especially during the 2012 Presidential campaign. Katzenberg has also been close to the former First Lady and Secretary of State and is widely expected to offer a similar level of support to her if she does decided to run for the White House in two years. In this year’s midterms, Katzenberg has offered big bucks and spotlight support to Kentucky Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes efforts to unseat Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnel. As for the October 20 event, if past big name political events are any indication, expect a number of moguls and stars to be added as additional co-hosts and join the likes of Senator Barabra Boxer at the Hillaryfest.
