Season 12 of The Ellen DeGeneres Show will premiere October 20 on Lifetime Asia as a same-day telecast with the U.S. Airing at 8 PM weekdays Singapore/Hong Kong time, The series will now be available in Brunei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. “Ellen is such a topical show,” said Michele Schofield, SVP Programming & Marketing at A+E Networks Asia. “We’re excited to give our viewers the same opportunities to share in the water-cooler conversation.” The Ellen DeGeneres Show is produced by A Very Good Production and WAD Productions in association with Telepictures Productions and is distributed internationally by Warner Bros International Television Distribution.

The upcoming Scandinavian disaster movie, based on true events, will be directed by Norway’s Roar Uthaug and produced by FanteFilm Fiksjon. Kristoffer Joner and Ane Dahl Torp star. Eighty years ago, a number of villages in Norway were hit by a huge tsunami when a mountainside collapsed and caused damage and casualties in the fjords. Geologists say that it is just a matter of time when it will happen again. The Wave starts just prior to the incident in our time and focuses on an experienced geologist whose worst nightmare is about to come true when the alarm goes off and the disaster is inevitable. It is produced by Martin Sundland and Are Heidenstrøm for Fantefilm Fiksjon in co-production with Fuzz, Filmkraft Invest, Storyline Studios, Film i Väst and Gimpville. TrustNordisk is handling international sales. Nordisk Film Distribution has Nordic rights and will open the pic next fall.
Two-time Oscar nominee Samantha Morton has been cast in Cider With Rosie, directed by Philippa Lowthorpe and adapted by Ben Vanstone. It is produced by Origin Pictures and will air on BBC One next year as part of its season of classic 20th century literature. The cast also includes newcomer Archie Cox, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Jessica Hynes, June Whitfield, Annette Crosbie, Billy Howle and Emma Curtis. A vivid memoir of Laurie Lee’s childhood, Cider With Rosie is an evocative coming-of-age story, set in an idyllic Cotswold village during and immediately after World War I. Marking the journey of young Lol as he grows from boy to man, the story chronicles first love, loss and family upheaval. Cider With Rosie has begun filming in Gloucestershire and will air in 2015. David Thompson and Ed Rubin are the executive producers for Origin Pictures and Lucy Richer for the BBC. Helen Gregory is producer.
Pinewood Shepperton announced Tuesday a joint venture with MBS3, the management company behind the Los Angeles-based Manhattan Beach Studios and MBS Equipment Co., to be called Pinewood MBS Lighting. It launches January 1 and will become the exclusive provider of lighting to productions based at Pinewood Studios and Shepperton Studios. Panalux alum Darren Smith has been appointed as Managing Director of the venture. “With their wealth of experience MBS lighting are not only a great fit for Pinewood but also for our clients who can expect great service and innovative new equipment as demonstrated by our partnership at Pinewood Atlanta Studios.,” said Pinewood Commercial Director Nick Smith.
