Christian Slater has been cast in the title role of USA Network’s cyber-crime drama pilot Mr Robot. The project, from Universal Cable Prods, centers on a young programmer, Elliot (Rami Malek), who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them. He will find himself in the intersection between a cybersecurity firm he works for and the underworld organizations recruiting him to bring down corporate America.
Slater will play Mr. Robot, a mysterious anarchist who recruits Elliot into an underground hacker group. Co-starring in the pilot are Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin and Martin Wallström.
Mr. Robot is one of four drama pilots at USA along with Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal’s Colony starring Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies; Stanistan starring Jennifer Carpenter; and Queen Of The South, based on the international bestselling book La Reina Del Sur by Arturo Pérez-Reverte.
Slater most recently toplined the ABC series Mind Games and co-starred in Nymphomaniac.
