Chris McCarthy, EVP of MTV and General Manager of MTV’s sister networks MTV2 and mtvU, will also lead Logo TV as the network’s General Manager. McCarthy has served as interim General Manager of Logo TV since the network became aligned with MTV in late 2013, after long-time topper Lisa Sherman exited.
McCarthy was officially given the extra responsibilities for Logo TV after impressing his bosses with his work on the revamp of MTV2, which has posted three years of record ratings.
Additionally, Logo TV, whose brand is described as “inspired by the LGBT community,” is having its highest-rated and most-watched year ever in 2014 with McCarthy as interim GM. That’s up nearly 20 percent vs. 2013.
McCarthy will oversee all creative and business functions for Logo TV and will continue to report to MTV President Stephen Friedman who oversees Logo as part of the restructuring late last year.
