Veteran marketing exec Nigel Cox-Hagan is moving to ABC Family as SVP Marketing, Creative and Branding. He replaces Michelle Walenz, who exited about two weeks ago to explore new options after a decade with the network.
In his new role, Cox-Hagan will be responsible for the execution of all marketing activities across multiple platforms and oversee all on-air and off-air marketing, in addition to integrated marketing, audience development, franchise and brand management, and promotional partnerships. He will also manage marketing operation functions. Cox-Hagan will report to ABC Family president Tom Ascheim.
Most recently, Cox-Hagan served as EVP Creative and Consumer for VH1 Networks where he was responsible for branding, promotion, design, consumer and social media marketing for VH1’s family of brands and franchises. During his stint, Cox-Hagan guided the branding and marketing of VH1 from its “Celebreality” phase to its most recent “VH+1” incarnation. He also oversaw the rebrands of sub networks VH1 Classic and VH1 Soul. Additionally, Nigel also took on branding and launch projects for MTV Networks, serving as Creative Director for Logo, Palladia and Centric.
Prior to his work at VH1, Cox-Hagan was Director of On-Air Promotion and Graphic Design at G4. He also did a series of branding projects for Nickelodeon, BET, SYFY and the entertainment/video game hub UGO. Cox-Hagan began his career in the on-air promo department of MTV.
