Wonder what all those commercial airline crews do with their free time during the constant layovers in cities far away from their homes? Fox’s The Ultimate Getaway, executive produced by Sheldon Turner, Seth Gordon and Jennifer Klein, is exploring one possible scenario. Written/executive produced by Kevin Costello, the project centers on a commercial airline crew who, to escape the drudgery of their everyday lives, use their layovers to commit robberies in different cities across the country. The drama is produced by Sony TV where Turner and Klein’s Vendetta Prods. as well as Gordon’s Exhibit A have deals. Turner has experience with airline-themed projects – he co-wrote the George Clooney starrer Up In the Air.
Costello, repped by UTA, Management 360 and attorney Greg Slewett, used to be Klein’s assistant. This is the first project he has sold since completing Fox’s Emerging Writers Program, as part of which he did some uncredited work on the recently released feature comedy Let’s Be Cops. He also has been working on two feature projects for Turner and Klein, Epic Fail and Six Month Curse.
Ultimate Getaway originated as an idea from Dave Johnson. It was developed by Vendetta with Costello. The project then got the attention of Gordon who boarded it before it was sold to Fox.
CAA-repped Vendetta also has a medical advocate drama project from David Marshall Grant at ABC. Exhibit A is repped by WME and Brillstein. Johnson is repped by Paradigm.
