New seasons of The Newsroom, The Comeback and Getting On will premiere back-to-back on Sunday, November 9 beginning at 9 PM, HBO said today. The Newsroom‘s six-episode, third and final season will debut in the 9 PM slot. It will be followed by the eight-episode Lisa Kudrow-starrer The Comeback at 10 PM and the six-episode second season debut of Getting On at 10:30 PM.
Created by showrunner Aaron Sorkin, drama series The Newsroom follows the members of a cable news team on their mission to do the news well in the face of a fickle audience, corporate mandates and tangled personal relationships. Returning cast regulars include Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel and Olivia Munn. Limited comedy series The Comeback stars Lisa Kudrow as the embattled Valerie Cherish, a fading TV “It Girl” who was once so desperate to stay in the spotlight that she allowed cameras to follow her every move as she appeared on a new sitcom – with disastrous results. Getting On follows the daily lives of nurses and doctors as they struggle with the darkly comic realities of caring for the elderly in an overwhelmed healthcare system. It’s from creators Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer.
