Portia Doubleday (Her, Carrie) and Carly Chaikin (Suburgatory) have been cast in USA’s pilot Mr. Robot. The hacking drama from exec producers Sam Esmail, Steve Golin and Chad Hamilton centers on Elliot (Rami Malek), a young programmer who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them. Paradigm-repped Doubleday plays Angela, the pragmatic old childhood friend of Elliot and an account executive at the AllSafe Cyber Security firm. Chaikin, repped by Paradigm, Berwick & Kovacik and Stone, Meyer, will play Marlene, the chain-smoking striking hipster who also happens to be an expert at writing malicious malware — specifically, dangerous computer worms that take down entire networks.

Rupert Evans (Hellboy) has been tapped for a lead role in Amazon pilot The Man In The High Castle from The X-Files alum Frank Spotnitz and Scott Free. Based on Philip K. Dick’s Hugo Award-winning novel, the project set in 1962 explores an alternative reality in which Nazi Germany and Japan won World War II and occupy the United States, with the East Coast controlled by the Nazis and the West Coast owned by Japan, and a chunk of the Midwest still up for grabs. Evans will play Frank Frink, an artist and an intellectual with a secret.
