Tommy Lee Jones’ latest writer-director effort, like the details of its plot, has made a long trek this festival season. The Homesman started out in competition at Cannes before hitting Telluride, and is next at the Hamptons fest. The frontier drama starring Jones and Hilary Swank was the first acquisition of upstart Saban Films when that company made its Croisette debut in May. (Since then, Saban Films went way in the opposite direction for its next buy, the Taylor Lautner action thriller Tracers — a seven-figure deal that was the first major pickup at Toronto.)
Meanwhile, here’s the Homesman trailer that dropped today, Saban Film is partnering with Roadside Attractions in the pic’s November 14 release timed for an awards-season run amid buzz for Swank’s performance.
