The actor-director-writer-producer will receive the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s career honor during the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards on January 11. George Clooney already has four Globes to his credit — all in different categories: Best Actor in a Drama for The Descendants (2011), Best Supporting Actor for Syriana (2005) and Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical for O Brother, Where Art Thou (2000). He also won for his breakout role in ER. “The HFPA is honored to bestow the Cecil B. DeMille Award to George Clooney to celebrate his outstanding contributions both in front of and behind the camera,” said HFPA president Theo Kingma. Clooney most recently appeared in Gravity and The Monuments Men, the latter of which he also produced and directed. He next stars in Brad Bird’s sci-fi adventure Tomorrowland for Disney. Woody Allen received the 2014 honor. He was his typical no-show and his Annie Hall co-star Diane Keaton accepted for him.
