NBC News and MSNBC will air the first-ever live broadcast of the Global Citizen Festival – a concert headlined by Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, No Doubt, Carrie Underwood, fun., The Roots and Tiësto — on Central Park’s Great Lawn, this coming Saturday, September 27. NBC News will air a one-hour primetime special and MSNBC will carry the full concert on cable and msnbc.com.
Chris Hayes and Alex Wagner will host MSNBC’s comprehensive coverage starting at 3 PM ET that day, live from Central Park. MSNBC’s Ronan Farrow and Joy Reid will be backstage providing live interviews with world leaders and celebrity guests. Tamron Hall will host an NBC News primetime special at 9 PM ET, featuring highlights from concert headliners with limited commercial interruptions, during which viewers will be shown ‘Global Citizens’ digital campaigns in the areas of vaccines, education, sanitation and water, and ending extreme poverty by 2030. One day earlier, on NBC News’ Today show, Carrie Underwood will discuss her involvement with the Global Citizen Festival in a special appearance. Her performance will stream live on NBCNews.com and Today.com.
