For her first official sale through her new production company the Jackal Group, Gail Berman has teamed with Friends alums Andrew Reich and Ted Cohen for a multi-camera comedy that has sold to CBS in a competitive situation. It has been laid off at sibling CBS TV Studios, which will produce in association with the Jackal Group. Written by Reich and Cohen, the untitled project is described as a big, multi-generational family comedy. Reich and Cohen executive produce with Berman.
The Jackal Group was launched in June as a joint venture between Berman and 21st Century Fox’s Fox Networks’ Group, whose CEO Peter Rice serves on Jackal’s board of directors. Under the agreement, the company is not restricted from developing for networks that aren’t owned by 21st Century Fox, as evident by the CBS sale.
Reich and Cohen, repped by WME, most recently created online heist comedy Robin Banks And The Bank Roberts for Maker Studios and Warner Bros Television Group’s Studio 2.0. You can watch the first episode below:
