Like Mad Men for AMC, the first home-grown drama series for sibling SundanceTV is proving to be a keeper. The cable network has renewed its first wholly owned original scripted series Rectify for a third season to air in 2015. I hear the order likely will be for 6 episodes, matching the size of the series’ first season. Rectify‘s second season wraps its 10-episode run on Thursday. “Rectify has evolved into a show much loved by critics and fans,” SundanceTV President Sarah Barnett said. “As SundanceTV’s first scripted series, it’s gratifying to see such distinctive and unusual storytelling embraced with such passion.”
Rectify, created by Ray McKinnon and executive produced by Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein, tells the story of Daniel Holden (Aden Young), who is released after serving nearly 20 years in complete isolation on death row, as he returns as an outsider to his family, to his community, and to the times. Co-starring in the series are Abigail Spencer, J. Smith Cameron, Luke Kirby, Clayne Crawford Adelaide Clemens and Jake Austin Walker co-star. The series is filmed on location near Atlanta.
