Last summer, ABC tried a reality version of a murder mystery with Whodunnit? This year, the network is giving fantasy adventures like The Lord Of The Rings a reality treatment with The Quest. Geared toward a broad audience, The Quest was slated at 8 PM but few showed up for its premiere last night. The show drew a 0.7 in adults 18-49, down 46% from the premiere of Whodunnit? last summer and half of the premiere rating of ABC’s other new unscripted series this summer, live singing competition Rising Star. The Quest matched the finale of drama Black Box in the time period last week. Cop drama Rookie Blue (0.9) held on at 9 PM, even with its last original two weeks ago and up from its Quest lead-in. NY Med (0.9) was down a tenth from last week.
With a Sleepy Hollow repeat (0.5) as a lead-in, Fox’s Gang Related (0.7) dipped a tenth from last Thursday when it followed the season finale of Hell’s Kitchen. NBC also subbed a reality original with a repeat at 8 PM, a Hollywood Game Night encore vs. the utility player’s season finale last week. That pushed comedy Welcome To Sweden (0.7) down a tenth from last week at 9 PM. Working The Engles (0.6) and Last Comic Standing (1.1) were flat.
Surrounded by repeats, CBS’ Big Brother (2.1) was even with last Thursday and once again the highest-rated program of the night. No. 2 was the network’s Big Bang Theory repeat (1.6). The two easily carried CBS to the top spot for the night in 18-49 and total viewers.
