Comedy Central, which recently made two major moves in late-night, successfully launching @midnight, which was just renewed for a second season, and finding a replacement of the departing Colbert Report in Larry Wilmore’s Minority Report, continues to explore new lete-night franchises. The cable network has given a pilot order to Gettin’ Some Strange with Kurt Braunohler, a late-night talk show, in which comedian Braunohler, a regular guest on @midnight, covers the strangest stories of the day, revealing just how beautifully insane our world actually is. Braunohler executive produces with Scotty Landes and Avalon Management.
Braunohler has a a lot going on at Comedy Central. He recently wrapped shooting his CC: Studios digital series, Roustabout with Kurt Braunohler, where each season features a specific act of stupidity to make the world a bit brighter. The first, six-episode installment, American Jet Ski, covers Braunohler’s seven-city water tour/ jet skiing mission down the Mississippi River from Chicago to New Orleans to raise money for Heifer International to send 500 goats and 1000 chickens to Africa. It features guest stars Wyatt Cenac, Jon Daly, Kyle Kinane and Kristen Schaal. Written by Braunohler and Landes and directed by Jeff Tomsic, Roustabout is set to premiere later this year. Additionally, Braunohler ecently performed stand-up on Comedy Central’s The Half Hour that aired on July 25. He previously had his own show on IFC called Bunk and just wrapped the lead in the independent feature, B-Roll.
