EXCLUSIVE: Oscar-nominated Tim Roth and Grimm star Bitsie Tulloch are set to star in Chronic, the English-language debut of After Lucia helmer Michel Franco. Chronic tracks a depressed nurse practitioner who assists terminally ill patients and tries to reconnect with the family he abandoned. Tulloch will play Lidia, whose father John will be played by Pulitzer-winning playwright Michael Cristofer. Prisoners‘ David Dastmalchian, recently cast in Marvel’s Ant-Man, s also in talks to join the film.
Roth and Franco go back a few years: The thesp served as president of the Cannes jury that awarded Mexican director Franco the top prize in the Un Certain Regard sidebar for his teen bullying drama Despues De Lucia (After Lucia) in 2012.
Tulloch stars on NBC’s hit series Grimm appeared in the JFK drama Parkland. She recently wrapped crime thriller Dead Draw with Gil Bellows and is repped by ICM Partners and Luber Roklin Entertainment. Roth recently starred on Discovery’s Klondike miniseries, in Cannes opener Grace Of Monaco, and last month joined the cast of Paramount’s MLK pic Selma as Governor George Wallace. He’s repped by CAA, Markham Froggatt and Irwin, and Jackoway Tyerman.
