EXCLUSIVE: The Weinstein Co.‘s culinary pic Chef is looking to add Sam Keeley to its kitchen. The Irish thesp, who’s also got a role in Ron Howard’s In The Heart Of The Sea, is in negotiations to join star Bradley Cooper, Omar Sy, and Sienna Miller in the story of a Paris chef whose career is tanked by a hard-partying lifestyle. Sober, he returns determined to redeem himself by heading a restaurant that can earn a coveted three-star Michelin rating.

Keeley will take the role of David, a chef recruited by Cooper’s Adam Jones to work in his kitchen, who Jones ends up crashing with when he’s displaced from his home. John Wells helmed Oscar bait August: Osage County last year for TWC and is directing Chef for the studio with an imminent shoot planned. Stacey Sher, Erwin Stoff and Michael Shamberg are producing. This Chef is not to be confused with Open Road’s other Chef flick, directed by and starring Jon Favreau, which premiered in May after a title kerfuffle.

Keeley made his feature debut stateside in 2012’s This Must Be The Place opposite Sean Penn. He next appears in Monsters: Dark Continent, the sequel to Gareth Evans’ sci-fier. He’s repped by Resolution and 42.
