Warner Bros. veteran Thomas Molter has been promoted from senior VP to executive VP, International Distribution and Exhibition Strategy. He reports to Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President of Distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures International. The Burbank-based Molter, who has been with the studio a decade, is credited with being a significant player in the studio’s international distribution strategy for such successes as Man of Steel, The Dark Knight trilogy and The Lego Movie.
In addition to his current responsibilities, the studio said he will serve as “key executive on all international exhibition issues,” including digital delivery, deployment strategy, and strategic partnerships. Molter will continue to coordinate with domestic distribution, studio technical operations, post-production and filmmakers on new tech developments.
“Tom has been integral in defining, negotiating and implementing Warner Bros.’ international digital strategy,” said Kwan Vandenberg in a statement. “He is an enormous asset to the division and will be instrumental in the collaboration between Warner Bros. and the exhibition community and technology providers.”
Before joining the studio, Molter served as VP and managing director, worldwide all media, for the Motion Picture Association. He started his career in television, producing a syndicated outdoor sports program and serving as a business development consultant for Showtime Networks in New York and Samuel Goldwyn Television Production in Los Angeles.
