Todd-Soundelux, which closed its postproduction facilities in Hollywood and Santa Monica and filed for bankruptcy protection two weeks ago, is on the selling block. The company for many years had been Hollywood’s leading independent provider of postproduction sound services but has been hit hard by runaway production and shifting business patterns. “Todd is seeking buyers for the business as a whole or for any of its individual business segments, each of which are continuing to operate under chapter 11,” the company said. Attorney Leslie Cohen, who is handling Todd-Soundelux’s bankruptcy, said this is a “sale of the business and not a liquidating sale of equipment.” She added that the “downsizing accomplished by cost cutting and closure” of the LA-area facilities “has created a stronger enterprise which should generate interest from potential buyers.”
