Alex Ross Perry‘s dark comedy that premiered at Sundance this year now has a North American rights deal and a release date: Tribeca Film has acquired Listen Up Philip and has set a theatrical release for October 17, 2014, with VOD following the next week. Jason Schwartzman, Elisabeth Moss, Jonathan Pryce, Krysten Ritter, Joséphine de La Baume, Dree Hemingway and Jess Weixler star in the pic, about an author (Schwartzman) awaiting the publication of his sure-to-succeed second novel. He feels pushed out of his adopted home city by the constant crowds and noise, a deteriorating relationship with his girlfriend (Moss), and his own indifference to promoting the book. When Philip’s idol Ike Zimmerman (Pryce) offers his isolated summer home as a refuge, he finally gets the peace and quiet to focus on his favorite subject — himself. The pic is produced by Washington Square Films and Sailor Bear Productions, the team behind Ain’t Them Bodies Saints. Perry (The Color Wheel) wrote and directed. The deal was negotiated for Tribeca Film by Nick Savva, with John Sloss of Cinetic Media on behalf of the filmmakers.
