sobercompanionfoxDid Fox‘s events department jump the gun or just use the wrong poster? People attending the Fox upfront presentation at the Beacon Theatre today were greeted with movie-style posters for all of the network’s new series as part of Fox’s new marketing campaign with the tagline “We Are …” (We Are Empire, We Are Weird Loners, We Are Utopia, etc. — see photos.) But among the shows that were showcased was Sober Companion, which also got the “We Are” treatment at the very entrance of the Beacon. The problem is that the Sober Companion comedy pilot, starring Nick Frost and Justin Long, has not been picked up to series. (I hear the posting was the work of an outside vendor.)

The network opted not to pick up any of its comedy pilots last week, IMG-20140512-00135instead upping the order for Mulaney from 6 to 13 episodes. It left two pilots alive: Matt Hubbard’s Cabot Cottage, which had been in talks for a possible six-episode order, and Sober Companion, from CBS Studios.

No decision has been made on Sober Companion yet, so this poster will either come in handy soon if the project is ordered, or could be a nice memento for Frost, Long and Sober Companion writers David S. Rosenthal and  Jennie Snyder Urman.
