He’s played his fair share of good guys, bad and even a sitting President of the United States, but Josh Brolin is really going to be playing full-on evil in Disney and Marvel’s upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy and The Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Marvel as usual will say nothing but sources confirm the actor will voice the character of villain Thanos in the blockbuster superhero pics. Latino Review first broke the news of Brolin’s involvement in Guardians. Sources tell me that the actor actually was cast months ago as Thanos for the James Gunn-directed pic and has completed all the VO work. Good thing too, because Guardians is out on August 1. Glimpsed briefly at the end of 2012’s The Avengers, Thanos is a long-standing character in the Marvel Comics universe who has brought a tone of chaos and has a complicated romantic life to say the least. Damon Poitier played the purple skinned villain in the Joss Whedon-directed pic. Indications are Thanos will be back in a much bigger way in the sequel due out next May 1 with Brolin providing the vocals so to speak. He certainly isn’t the only thespian of note doing voice work for the Marvel megamovies. Bradley Cooper is voicing furry gun-toting hero Rocket Raccoon for Guardians and Vin Diesel is the voice, so to speak, of extraterrestrial plant monster Groot alongside live action actors Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana. The Blacklist star James Spader will play lead baddie Ultron in the Avengers sequel. Josh Brolin is repped by CAA
