A+E Networks UK Orders British Version Of ‘Dance Moms’
The UK is getting the first format adaptation of Lifetime’s U.S. reality series Dance Moms. A+E Networks UK has ordered a British version the show, to be titled Dance Mums. Shiver, part of ITV Studios, will produce eight hourlong episodes of the show, which will be fronted by actress and dance Jennifer Ellison, whose Liverpool dance school Fame Academy provides the setting. Dance Mums is due to air this year.
Network Ten Bringing Fake Prince Harry Reality Show To Australia
Network Ten has acquired Shine International’s upcoming reality series I Wanna Marry ‘Harry’ for Australia. Co-produced by Zig Zag Productions and Ryan Seacrest Productions, the eight-episode series features 12 women competing for their chance to marry “Prince Harry”, while living at an English estate. But there is a catch: It’s not actually Prince Harry but imposter Matthew Hicks. Marry ‘Harry’, executive produced by Danny Fenton, Kevin Utton, Matt Gould, Ryan Seacrest, Adam Sher, Heather Schuster, David Tibballs and Rebecca Eisen, will have its global premiere May 27 on Fox.
ITV Orders Drama ‘Arthur & George’ About Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
ITV has commissioned a three-part adaptation of Julian Barnes’ novel Arthur & George, based on a series of real events in the life of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Martin Clunes will play the Sherlock Holmes creator, who has become a self-admitted “bore and a sulk” after the death of his wife. Conan Doyle recaptures his zest for life by pursuing and challenging a notorious miscarriage of justice: the case of George Edalji, a hard-working solicitor who served seven years in prison for allegedly mutilating animals and sending threatening letters. Written by Ed Whitmore, Arthur & George will begin production in the fall in Greater London and Staffordshire.
ITV Studios Global Entertainment Acquires Swedish Dramas ‘Ängelby’ & ‘Jordskott’
ITV Studios Global Entertainment said Wednesday that it will distribute the new Swedish drama series Ängelby and Jordskott in the UK. In Ängelby, written by Johan Kindblom and Tomas Tivemark, Mia Skäringer stars as a woman whose life is unraveling so she embarks on a new start in the town of Ängelby. However, all is not as it seems. Did she kill the boy she ran over on her way to her new life? Jordskott, penned by Henrik Björn, is the story of a woman who returns to her small town 10 years after the disappearance of her daughter. The 12-episode Ängelby is produced by Tre Vänner/Svensk Filmindustri in association with SVT and Film i Väst and directed by Molly Hartleb. The 10-episode Jordskott is produced by Palladium Fiction in association with SVT and directed by Henrik Björn and Anders Engström.
