bakerkinggeorgiaCBS’ newly picked up comedy series The Odd Couple is making casting changes on the female side. Georgia King and Sarah Baker are exiting The Odd Couple reboot, leaving Lindsay Sloane as the only female cast member from the pilot to continue on the series. Co-written and executive produced by Matthew Perry, the project, a take on the Neil Simon classic, revolves around two mismatched roommates — the messy Oscar Madison (Perry) and neat freak Felix Unger (Thomas Lennon).

King played Katie, a model who lives in Oscar and Felix’s building. Baker, who previously co-starred with Perry on NBC’s Go On, played Oscar’s assistant Sam, who spends most of her work day on the phone apologizing to assorted high-and-mighty people who have been offended by Oscar’s latest rant. The role was written by Perry with Baker in mind. Both roles will be recast. The Odd Couple, from CBS Studios, had been expected to undergo some changes after the pilot. It is eyed for a midseason launch as CBS’ Thursday lineup will be pre-empted for football in the fall. The Odd Couple is the second new broadcast series to recast an actor; NBC’s Mission Control is replacing Michael Rosenbaum.
