NBCUniversal has named Vasant M. Prabhu its Chief Financial Officer. Prabhu will be a member of the Executive Committee and report to NBCU’s CEO Steve Burke when he joins the company on June 1. In addition to serving as CFO, Prabhu will oversee operations and technical Services, which includes NBCUniversal’s technical operations, physical plant, corporate services and information technology functions. Since January 2004, Prabhu has been Chief Financial Officer of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., the leading global hospitality company, whose brands include W, St. Regis, and Sheraton, among many others. In 2010 Prabhu was also named Vice Chairman at that company, where he was responsible for all financial functions, information technology and a range of central corporate services.
Prior to joining Starwood, Prabhu served as EVP, CFO and President E-Commerce for Safeway, Inc.
NBCU today noted Prabhu gained experience in the media sector as President of the Information and Media Group, The McGraw-Hill Companies, where he led the division comprising Business Week, broadcast television stations, and business information services. From 1992-1998, Prabhu held senior positions at PepsiCo, including SVP of Finance & Chief Financial Officer, PepsiCola International. Prabhu started his career at Booz, Allen & Hamilton, the management consulting firm, where he rose to become a Partner serving Media and Consumer companies. Prabhu is a member of the Board of Directors of Mattel, Inc.
