Netflix Bringing ‘Fargo’ To The Netherlands
Netflix has scored rights to new series Fargo for the Netherlands. The 10-episode limited series is inspired by the Coen brothers’ 1996 feature and will be available exclusively to Netflix members beginning April 16. New episodes will roll out weekly on Netflix Netherlands within 24 hours of the U.S. broadcast on FX. Fargo is produced by MGM Television and FX Productions with MGM handling worldwide distribution. Billy Bob Thornton stars as a rootless, manipulative man who meets and forever changes the life of a small-town insurance salesman (Martin Freeman). Colin Hanks, Allison Tolman, Bob Odenkirk, Oliver Platt, Kate Walsh, Glenn Howerton, Joey King, Peter Breitmayer, Tom Musgrave, Josh Close, Russell Harvard, Adam Goldberg, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele round out the cast.
BSkyB’s Pick To Air All 88 Episodes Of ‘Farscape’
The UK’s BSkyB has licensed sci-fi series Farscape from The Jim Henson Company with all 88 episodes of the series to air on Pick beginning April 21. A mix of live-action, puppetry, prosthetics and CGI animation, Farscape ran on Syfy from 1999-2003. It’s now seen on Pivot. The series follows astronaut John Crichton, who assumes he’ll be home in time for dinner, but a freak accident during an experimental space mission catapults him across a thousand galaxies to an alien battlefield.
Sammy Nourmand Tapped As COO Of Keshet UK
Keshet UK has appointed Sammy Nourmand to the newly created role of COO. The exec will have oversight of ITV’s version of Keshet’s interactive talent show Rising Star, which is expected to air in January 2015. Nourmand most recently was CEO of DCD Media before leaving in late 2012 to take up various consulting roles with UK- and U.S.-based production companies, including Keshet. He began his career at Michael Hurll Television, working on the British Comedy Awards. He joined September Films in 1998 and went on to become CEO in 2005. Under his stewardship, the company enjoyed its longest period of sustained growth and stability, more than tripling its turnover and establishing a U.S. office. It was acquired by DCD Media in August 2007.
New Roles For Two Chellomedia Executives
AMC Networks’ Chellomedia said today that it has made key executive appointments. Eduardo Zulueta, managing director of Chello Multicanal, will expand his role to include oversight of Chello Latin America, dividing his time between Chello Multicanal’s Madrid office and Chello Latin America’s Buenos Aires and Miami offices. Alejandro Harrison, formerly head of Chello Latin America, has been named President of Business Development for AMCN Chellomedia with a purview to expand the company’s content into new territories and onto new platforms, and to identify merger and acquisition opportunities. AMC Networks completed its acquisition of Chellomedia from Liberty Global in February.
