This past Sunday Fox News Channel‘s MediaBuzz celebrated its six-month anniversary with its second-highest-rated telecast to date, featuring an interview with NBC’s Bob Costas about the eye infection that sidelined him during his network’s coverage of the Sochi Winter Olympics as well as his coverage of Russian president Vladimir Putin. MediaBuzz clocked 1.132 million viewers and 263,000 in the news demo — tripling CNN‘s like-minded Sunday show Reliable Sources in total viewers and nearly doubling Reliable Sources in the demo. (According to Nielsen, MediaBuzz‘s highest-rated telecast, on December 1 of last year, clocked 1.183 million viewers with breaking news of the New York City train derailment, and 267,000 demo viewers.)
Compared with last week’s program, MediaBuzz was up double-digits in both categories — up 28% with overall audience and 53% in the news demo. Reliable Sources, meanwhile, dropped 38% in the demo compared to the previous Sunday when it logged a rare demo win, and was down 2% in overall audience.
Since its launch September 8, MediaBuzz has climbed 38% in the demo and 18% in overall audience.
