berlinaleofficialposterThe Berlinale Special sidebar is part of the Berlin Film Festival‘s official program which offers recent works by contemporary filmmakers, as well as film portraits of renowned personalities and extraordinary formats. This year, 18 movies have been selected, including nine world premieres. This is one of the two faces of januarymore star-studded sections of Berlin. Among the world premieres are Pascal Chaumeil’s A Long Way Down with Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette, Aaron Paul and Imogen Poots; Diego Luna’s Cesar Chavez with Michael Peña, America Ferrera, Rosario Dawson and John Malkovich; and Hossein Amini’s The Two Faces Of January with Viggo Mortensen, Kirsten Dunst and Oscar Isaac. David O Russell’s heavily Oscar-nominated American Hustle also has a berth. Some of the gala screenings will take place for the first time at the newly-renovated and re-opened Zoo Palast. Discussions with filmmakers will also follow the screenings. The festival runs from February 6-16. Below is a list of the selected titles:
