The jockeying by the studios to get the best playdates for their summer 2014 tentpolefare is continuing with 20th Century Fox moving the release date of its 3D offering Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes up a week from July 18 to July 11. By doing so, it gives the picture another week in the marketplace before moviegoers head into Paramount’s Hercules, starring Dwayne Johnson, and Warner Bros bows its summer Andy and Lana Wachowski sci-fi pic Jupiter Ascending, both of which are on July 25. Jupiter stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis. The other film slated for the July 11 date is Universal’s Fast & Furious 7, the production of which has been postponed given the tragic death of its star, Paul Walker. Universal, however, for now is holding stake on that July 11 date for FF7.
