UPDATE, 10:40 AM: CNN said it will test out two programs at 11 PM during Erin Burnett’s maternity leave. For the three weeks of December 2nd, 9th and 16th, Don Lemon will host a half-hour show, The 11th Hour, from 11-11:30 PM ET, and Brooke Baldwin will host CNN Today from 11:30 PM-midnight. Both shows will have a limited run. CNN’s 7 PM program, Erin Burnett Outfront, usually repeats in that hour. The cable news network also said that, for the weeks of December 2nd, 9th and 16th, Jake Tapper will anchor Outfront, from 7-8 pm ET while continuing to host his program The Lead from 4-5 pm ET. For the weeks of December 23rd, 30th and January 6th, Lemon will anchor Burnett’s show.
PREVIOUS, 6:34 AM: Don Lemon, who has been with CNN since 2006, will get to test run a new show starting next month. The weekend evening anchor, who moved to New York from CNN’s Atlanta offices, is set to fill in on Erin Burnett: OutFront when Burnett goes on maternity leave. Burnett’s show runs at 7 PM, and repeats at 11. CNN plans to have Lemon fill in on her show at 7, and anchor a different, fill-in show at 11, exec produced by Piers Morgan’s exec producer Jonathan Wald. Plan is to run the show until Burnett returns from leave.
