Will Ferrell‘s ’70s-classy character seems to have a permanent case of brain freeze. Now he has a potential excuse. With Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues a couple of months away, Ben & Jerry’s is following such showbiz-themed stunt flavors as Stephen Colbert’s AmeriCone Dream and Late Night Snack with Ron Burgundy’s Scotchy Scotch Scotch. Named after the San Diego newsreader’s preferred adult beverage, the butterscotch-n-swirl treat is the latest cross-marketing ploy for the long-gestating sequel. The Newseum in Washington, D.C., is planning an Anchorman exhibit next month, and Dodge recently launched a TV campaign starring Ferrell as Burgundy hawking Durango trucks. (Maybe it got the idea from the Honda ad starring Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller a couple Super Bowls ago, though that one had no film to plug). You won’t get carded buying Scotchy Scotch Scotch; like rum raisin, it merely hints at booze. Let’s just hope it doesn’t have the smell of desire.
