Rome Fest Adds ‘Dallas Buyers Club,’ 3 Others To Competition Lineup
The Rome Film Festival last week scored a Continental premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and now has added four high-profile indie titles to its competition roster. Isabel Coixet’s Another Me, Matthew McConaughey starrer Dallas Buyers Club, Spike Jonze’s Her and Scott Cooper’s Out Of The Furnace are the first films to be unveiled in the competition section. Rome runs from November 8-17.

Zodiak Sells ‘The Returned’ To Canada, Australia
Zodiak Rights has closed new deals for its popular French supernatural series The Returned (aka Rebound). Canada’s Bell Media has taken broadcast rights to the drama that first aired on France’s Canal Plus. Also picking it up is SBS in Australia, where it will air at the end of the year. Universal Pictures just released the DVD in the UK. Produced by Haut et Court, The Returned was the highest-rated original drama of all time on Canal Plus. Since then, it has aired in the UK on Channel 4 and recently was acquired for the U.S. by Sundance Channel and Music Box. It’s also getting an English-language remake courtesy of Paul Abbot.

Catherine Deneuve Set For Career Honor At EFA Awards
The European Film Academy is set to honor legendary French actress Catherine Deneuve with its Lifetime Achievement Award at the prize ceremony on December 7th in Berlin. Deneuve is shooting Benoît Jacquot’s Trois Coeurs and recently starred in Elle S’En Va, a drama that screened in Berlin this year. Her long list of credits includes Jacques Demy’s The Umbrellas Of Cherbouorg, François Truffaut’s The Last Metro, Roman Polanski’s Repulsion, Luis Bunuel’s Belle Du Jour and André Téchiné’s Les Voleurs. She was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for Régis Wargnier’s Indochine in 1993 and has more recently worked with such directors as Lars von Trier and François Ozon.

Gordon Ramsay’s Company Sells Pair Of Projects
The Los Angeles branch of Gordon Ramsay’s One Potato Two Potato has won two new series commissions for the U.S. Bravo is picking up 11 episodes of the first season of America’s Best Restaurant, and Food Network has ordered 13 hours of a second season of Food Court Wars. America’s Best Restaurant is a competition series to be hosted by a top U.S. chef who travels across the country visiting 16 of the nation’s best restaurants as they vie to be crowned America’s best. Food Court Wars, hosted by Tyler Florence, sees two teams of passionate cooks compete for a one-year lease in a prime food-court location. The shows also will be proffered at next month’s Mipcom. One Potato Two Potato is a joint venture between Ramsay and Optomen Television, which produces all of Ramsay’s new worldwide audiovisual output. It joined the All3Media group in 2010.
