An average of 1.166 million people tuned in to watch Elisabeth Hasselbeck‘s Fox & Friends debut Monday morning. A slightly bigger crowd, 1.171 million people tuned in to say so long to the show’s longtime co-host Gretchen Carlson on Friday; Carlson gave up her spot on the curvy couch to make way for Hasselbeck. Carlson’s getting her own afternoon program on FNC. Hasselbeck’s audience includes 285,000 people in the news demo, while Carlson’s crowd included a smaller, 239,000 in the 25-54 age bracket. Hasselbeck skewed younger. And, Hasselbeck Monday was up 4% in overall audience and 19% in the demo compared to the previous Monday, and up 21% in the demo and 10% in total viewers compared to 3Q.

Not surprisingly, Hasselbeck’s debut beat cable news competition on Monday. MSNBC’s Morning Joe clocked 432,000 viewers Monday morning, 147,000 of them in the news demo, while CNN’s New Day scraped together an average of 250,000 total viewers, — 89,000 in the demo. FYI, Hasselbeck’s former home, ABC’s The View averaged 3.1 million this past TV season.
