Fox Broadcasting Co. has promoted Will Somers to SVP, Network Research. He will head what the network calls an audience intelligence and research strategy team. Fox had been without a formal head of research since SVP Melva Benoit left earlier this year. Figuring out ways to measure viewership outside of the traditional linear distribution is becoming increasingly important, something Fox chairman Kevin Reilly spoke passionately about in his TCA speech last week. Said Fox COO Joe Earley, “At a time when the television landscape is transforming, we are very fortunate to have Will leading the charge in building more robust, cross-platform insights for our network and partners.” Prior to joining Fox in 2000, Somers conducted audience and program research for the Walt Disney Co.’s Buena Vista TV syndication and Touchstone Television studio.
