EXCLUSIVE: Showtime has put in development a comedy project from actor-writer David Cross. Here is the premise as explained by Cross himself: It centers around “a modestly successful travel writer who struggles to keep his families happy and satisfied. Oh, and also from finding out about each other’s existence.” Cross will write and executive produce through his Liberal Jew-Run Media Prods. His manager, Tim Sarkes of Brillstein Entertainment, also will serve as executive producer.
Unlike other series Cross has created/co-created — including HBO cult classic Mr. Show, Comedy Central’s Freak Show and IFC’s The Increasingly Poor Decisions Of Todd Margaret, in which he also starred — I hear the lead in the Showtime project is not designed for him. However, if the script goes forward, he may play another role. Cross most recently reprised his role as Tobias Fünke in the Arrested Development revival on Netflix.
