EXCLUSIVE: Tom DeSanto has teamed with David Ranes, Grace Roeder Oppenheimer, and Wayne Duband to form New Myth Entertainment. The intention is to hatch tentpole fare, along with some filmmaker driven small films. DeSanto’s writing and producing credits include X-Men and Transformers, and he was right there at the inception of both of those projects which have done billions in box office and merchandising. DeSanto is currently writing and producing his re-imagining of the millennium-old Chinese story, Creation Of The Gods, with YiSang Media, with plans of it being his next global film franchise.

New Myth is currently developing several big properties that include Faces, a high concept action thriller, with DeSanto and Ranes producing. “When a young genius invents infallible facial recognition software he uncovers a millennia old global conspiracy that threatens to throw the planet into chaos and a new World War,” DeSanto said.

A lot of companies chase tent pole fare, but the partners in this venture certainly have experience. Writer/Producer Ranes ran development six years for Gerald R. Molen, the Schindler’s List and Minority Report producer. He’s held producing or exec producing credits on a number of films including Take and About Cherry. Ranes most recently completed the action sci-fi script Faces, based on an original concept by Mark Newell and Theodore Savas, which he is also producing. Currently, he is producing Sheriff Street, which is written and directed by Jim Sheridan. Duband is the former President of Warner Brothers International, and he has been a consultant for a number of companies including Paramount, Sony, DreamWorks and LucasFilm, among others, and worked in that capacity launching international marketing for films that included Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, Star Trek, TinTin and more. Roeder Oppenheimer is a financial industry vet who has served as president of Finance, of a private real estate investment company managing over $550 million in real estate assets. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Universal Property Investment, Inc. and its subsidiary companies.
