EXCLUSIVE: Breck Eisner has been set to direct The Last Witch Hunter, and Vin Diesel is in early talks to star. The film is being co-financed by Summit Entertainment and Emmett/Furla Films. In the Cory Goodman-scripted film, the protagonist is an immortal witch hunter who partners with his natural enemy, a female witch, to stop the covens of New York City from unleashing a plague on humanity. Summit is out to Diesel to play the Witch Hunter. Goodman’s script made the 2010 Black List. His manager, Adam Goldworm will be exec producer.
Eisner most recently helmed The Crazies, and Diesel will next be seen in the Justin Lin-directed Fast & Furious 6, and the David Twohy-directed Riddick. Diesel is repped by CAA and Brillstein and Eisner by CAA and Management 360. Goodman is repped by WME and Aperture Entertainment.
Emmett/Furla is at the center of numerous big scale films that most recently include a team-up with Universal and Working Title on Everest, the Baltasar Kormakur-directed film that has Christian Bale attached to star; the Kormakur-directed 2 Guns with Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg; and Lone Survivor, the Peter Berg-directed adaptation of the Marcus Luttrell memoir about how Luttrell and his Navy SEAL team members fought to stay alive after being ambushed in Afghanistan in 2005 by Taliban forces during a covert mission in the Hindu Kush mountain region, where the team went to kill a terrorist leader. Universal will release that film.
