British actor Toby Regbo has been cast as the male lead opposite Adelaide Kane in the CW pilot Reign. Additionally, he has landed the lead in the indie Burden. Reign, from CBS TV Studios, chronicles the rise to power of Mary Queen of Scots (Kane) when she arrives in France as a 15-year-old, betrothed to Prince Francis (Regbo), and with her three best friends as ladies-in-waiting. It details the secret history of survival at French Court amidst fierce foes, dark forces, and a world of sexual intrigue. Prince Francis is thoughtful and very nervous about inheriting his throne. He doesn’t know if an arranged marriage is what is best for him, and is having an affair. Brad Silberling is directing the pilot from a script by Stephanie Sengupta and Laurie McCarthy. Based on the novel by Tony Walters, Burden  follows young Peedie Burden (Regbo) who’s full of guilt after surviving a car crash that takes his cousin’s life. French director Christian Carion (Joyeux Noel) is directing for Echo Lake. Regbo is with WME, UK’s BWH Agency, Schachter Entertainment and Karl Austen.

Merle Dandridge (Sons Of Anarchy), Arjun Gupta (Nurse Jackie) and Dondre Whitfield (The Event) have joined CW pilot Company Town. Written by Sera Gamble and directed by Taylor Hackford, it chronicles the aftermath of a scandal at a Naval base, which touches the lives of both civilians and military personnel. The project centers around two early 20-something women — Krista (Gage Golightly) and Page — who grew up together, were once best friends, but now are on opposite sides of the Townie/Military divide. Dandridge, repped by SDB Partners, plays Louise, a Navy Division Director, whois suddenly promoted to Commanding Officer of Naval Service Affairs and and put in charge of a group of bases and personnel that’s just become beleaguered by a terrible scandal. Gupta, repped by Gersh and Untitled, will play Jack, a Navy Chief Petty Officer qhose priority is to take care of his jet maintenance crew but privately he is nursing big dreams. Whitfield, repped by Buchwald/Fortitude and Rain Management Group, will play Don, a combat-trained trauma surgeon working at the Naval base’s hospital who is troubled by the repercussions of a terrible scandal on the base.
