Diane Haithman contributes to Deadline’s TCA coverage.
Nick Kroll, star of Comedy Central’s new Kroll Show, said today at TCA the show will feature about “46%” characters he has created before, including “The Ed Hardy Boyz” and Fabrice Fabrice. “It was really whatever was making the room laugh the most,” said Kroll (The League), who appeared on the panel with collaborators Jon Daly, Jonathan Krisel and John Levenstein. “It will have a strong narrative thread, you will learn more about these characters with each episode.”
Director and executive producer Krisel, who also directs Portlandia, called Kroll Show a completely different style of comedy. “Portlandia has its own aesthetic and sort of style, which to me is excellent, but there’s more of a parody going on” with Kroll, he said. “It has more of a movie trailer kind of feel.”
