Sunday saw a season finale, holiday specials and of course NFL football. The Green Bay Packers beat the Detroit Lions in the snow and NBC’s Sunday Night Football (13.6/21) again scored a touchdown as the night’s most-watched broadcast with 18.94 million viewers. Yesterday’s game was up a tenth from last week in time-zone-adjusted metered markets, but that number will likely change when the final ratings come in later today. With an average of 15.932 million, NBC won the night in total viewers and the adults 18-49 demo.
On CBS, the two-hour finale of Season 21 of The Amazing Race (2.6/6) was down 21% from last year’s fall finale on December 11, 2011. It also tied with the May 8, 2011 finale of Season 18 for Race’s lowest-rated finale ever. 60 Minutes (1.9/5) was down 42% from last week, but that was with football running into the network’s primetime schedule. At 10 PM, The Mentalist (1.6/4) was also down, 11%, from its last original two weeks ago.
ABC’s animated holiday specials Disney Prep & Landing (1.4/3) and Prep & Landing: Naughty Vs. Nice (1.1/4) were up 27% from last year’s broadcasts. They were followed by the Hallmark Hall of Fame holiday movie Christmas With Holly (1.8/4), up 13% in adults 18-49 and 1% in total viewers from Firelight, the last Hallmark movie ABC aired on April 22 for the highest rating a Hallmark movie has received for the network. Airing earlier in the night, America’s Funniest Home Videos (1.4/4) was down 13% from last week.
Fox also had football with NFL Football (6.1/17) which overran into The OT (4.3/11). Then it was the network’s usual Sunday animation block with all new episodes: The Simpsons (3.4/9) was up 3% from the last original two weeks ago, Bob’s Burgers (2.1/5) bounced up 17% from last week, Family Guy (2.8/7) ws down 3% from two weeks ago and American Dad (2.2/5) was up 5% from last week.
