Production is underway on an untitled six-part special that will air in first quarter 2013. It centers on Mac Miller and his four best friends as they leave their hometown of Pittsburgh and set up shop for the first time in Los Angeles to put the finishing touches on Miller’s new album, Watching Movies With The Sound Off. Miller has been a staple on MTV2 programming since his debut album, Blue Slide Park, was released in 2011 and became the first indie album since the 1990s to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200. His Live In Chicago: Mac Miller live stream remains the network’s highest-traffic single-artist live stream, he has appeared on MTV2’s Hip Hop Squares and The Dub Magazine Project, and he shared his life story on MTV’s This Is How I Made It. “Mac Miller embodies so many of the passion points of the MTV2 audience,” said Paul Ricci, SVP Programming and Development at MTV2. “In addition to being a creative powerhouse, he’s a savvy entrepreneur, a funny and likeable guy, and he’s living the dream with his hometown friends.”
