President Obama‘s response to GOP challenger Mitt Romney‘s charge that the U.S. Navy has fewer ships than it had in 1916 was a hit on all the major news channels last night — except for Fox News. Obama’s retort was the most-watched moment across all networks based on anonymous data from DVR users (who have the ability to jump back and re-watch programming), TiVo says. On ABC and MSNBC, the No. 1 moment came at 9:43:50 PM ET, when Obama answered the criticism about ships saying that “we also have fewer horses and bayonets” due to the changing nature of warfare. His comment a few seconds later that “we have these things called aircraft carriers where planes land on them” led at NBC and was No. 2 on CNN. And at CBS the big moment came less than a minute later, when the president said his campaign checked Romney’s website to look at the details of the economic plan “and it still doesn’t work.” Obama’s jabs didn’t make it to the top of the most-watched moments on Fox News, TiVo says.

And Fox News audiences zeroed in on the moment at 9:13:28 when Romney said that he’s “not going to wear rose colored glasses when it comes to Russia or Mr. [Vladimir] Putin and I’m certainly not going to say to him, ‘I’ll give you more flexibility after the election’.”
