(LOS ANGELES, CA – Oct 19 2012) The Woodshed, the new horror company from partners Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller and Elijah Wood, is proud to announce two new projects.
The Woodshed will partner with Blackout Films and Random Bench on Jason Banker’s TOAD ROAD as its first “The
Woodshed Presents” endeavor. Noah, Waller and Wood discovered the film when programming Nightmare City, a horror film festival collaboration between The Cinefamily, Cinespia and The Woodshed currently unfolding around Los Angeles.
Says Wood, “Programming the festival, we viewed scores of new horror films, but TOAD ROAD leapt out of the pack with its devastating power. We knew we had to do whatever we could to make sure this special film is seen.” The Woodshed will present the US premiere in Los Angeles next Tuesday October 23rd @10PM as part of Nightmare City. TOAD ROAD received both BEST DIRECTOR & BEST ACTOR (James Davidson) awards at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal and has received praise from critics and festival audiences.
Director/writer/cinematographer Jason Banker (“My Name is Faith”) directed and produced his first narrative feature, “TOAD ROAD,” in collaboration with producers and Random Bench principals Liz Levine (“Camp Hollywood”) and Adrian Salpeter (“The French Guy”). “TOAD ROAD” blurs the line between documentary and narrative to create a disturbing portrait of drug use in youth culture wrapped around a terrifying supernatural event on New Jersey’s infamous Toad Road, the site of a true urban legend about the gate to Hell.

Next, The Woodshed will commence production on A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT, an Iranian Vampire Western that will mark the feature debut of writer/director Ana Lily Amirpour. The film is described as a love story set in a fictitious Iranian ghost town reeking of death and loneliness, where a strange and jaded population is haunted by a lonesome vampire who preys upon the city’s most depraved denizens. Shot in widescreen black and white and entirely in Farsi, everything from the characters, the look, a modern soundtrack of 60’s inspired Western guitar music and Iranian pop make the film a mythical mash-up of genre and culture. Ana Lily Amirpour and her producing partner Sina Sayyah with their company Say Ahh… Productions, are partnering with The Woodshed. The project begins filming in Taft, California in January 2013.
