Nikki Finke noted last night that Hawk Koch was going to exit as co-president of the Producers Guild following his election as the new Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences president, leaving the PGA in Mark Gordon’s hands for the next year. Here is today’s official announcement calling it a “temporary leave” so that Koch can rejoin Gordon for the remaining 10 months until their term ends in 2014:
“In light of Hawk Koch’s new position as the President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Koch is taking a leave of absence from the Presidency of the Producers Guild of America. Mark Gordon will continue as the sole President of the PGA.”
Gordon said, “I am thrilled for Hawk, whose dedication to the industry is unsurpassed. There is no one whose council I value more so I will, of course, continue to seek his advice in matters relating to the PGA.”
