(Silver Spring, Md.) Discovery Channel today announced the appointment of Scott Lewers to Senior Vice President of Programming. He is based at Discovery’s Silver Spring headquarters and reports to Eileen O’Neill, Group President of Discovery & TLC Networks.
In his new position, Lewers leads program strategy for the flagship network, coordinating across all departments to create and conceptualize series, specials, franchises and initiatives for domestic telecast while fully leveraging those for all business opportunities.

Prior to Discovery, Lewers served as Vice President of Strategic Multi-Platform Program Planning & Acquisitions at Oxygen Media/NBCU where he directed strategy, maintaining and executing the overall programming direction for the network across all platforms. Lewers began at Oxygen as Director of Programming, Scheduling and Planning, where he oversaw the program planning and scheduling teams.
Previous to Oxygen, Lewers served as Manager of Programming, Scheduling & Acquisitions at Lifetime Entertainment, where he helped guide strategic program planning and scheduling for all Lifetime Networks, including Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network & Lifetime Real Women. He began at Lifetime as Manager of Programming Research, charged with analysis of audience and focus group studies.
Before joining Nielsen, Lewers was Senior Analyst of Primary Research & Development at Nielsen Media Research working with broadcast syndication clients.
Lewers received his B.S. in Economics/Business Administration from Wagner College in Staten Island, New York.
