The Cannes Film Festival screening of Gonzalo Tobal’s Villegas was cancelled last night due to the outrageously stormy weather we’re having. Winds damaged part of the roof at the Salle du Soixantième, where the film was to screen. The festival confirms the out-of-competition official selection will have another official screening Wednesday in the Salle Bunuel — which runs little risk of leaking since the weather is supposed to clear up by then. Meanwhile, the fest reacted fast, and the stand-alone screening room was re-opened this morning. The winds have died down, but it’s still raining.
