(Brooklyn, NY)–Bestselling author Walter Mosley has teamed up with producer Diane Houslin to launch a new production company, B.O.B. Filmhouse (Best of Brooklyn Filmhouse). Author of more than 39 novels and stories, Mosley has had numerous books optioned and produced before, but now, for the first time, will play an active role in seeing them transformed into films and television series.
“In Diane Houslin I’ve found the perfect partner.” says Mosley about his decision to launch B.O.B Filmhouse with Houslin. “Her experience is invaluable and offers a good balance to what I can bring to the conversation. This is a time of such great change in the business—from how we tell stories to where our readers and audiences find them—that I am excited to be a part of the whole process.”
Diane Houslin has executive produced and produced numerous television series and documentaries for broadcast and cable, including the award-winning ESPN Films’, Through the Fire directed by Jonathan Hock. She and Mosley met during her tenure at HBO when the network adapted his novel Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned, starring Laurence Fishburne.
The shingle has several projects already in the pipeline:
The Long Fall, based on Mosley’s Leonid McGill novels is in development at HBO. Mosley is writing the pilot, with Houslin producing.
They have partnered up with John Wells Productions for two projects: Fearless Jones, based on Mosley’s comic mystery series and Easy Rawlins, based on the iconic character Mosley wrote about in ten best-selling novels and portrayed by Denzel Washington in the 1995 thriller Devil in a Blue Dress.
They are also in active talks to develop a project with Don Cheadle’s Crescendo Productions.
In addition to a number of other TV properties, B.O.B. is developing a feature film based on Mosley’s critically lauded psychological thriller Man in My Basement; Houslin is producing with Carol Polakoff; and Mosley is co-writing the screenplay with Cheo Hodari Coker. They are currently on a search for a director.
