BRUSSELS. uMedia, co-producer of the multi Oscar-winning The Artist has hired former Lakeshore International President Peter Rogers to head up its new international sales division uConnect, part of the company’s expanding London based operations.

uMedia, the production, finance and distribution powerhouse behind films including The Artist, Luc Besson produced A Monster in Paris and most recently Cloclo starring Jérémie Renier, already produces, finances and distributes. It also has a prolific VFX division. uConnect will manage international sales and finance for selected uMedia productions and will also look to invest in a number of new third party projects.

Rogers has an impressive track record in production, sales and finance. For seven years he was the President of Lakeshore International, the sales and distribution subsidiary of Lakeshore Entertainment. The company produced, financed and distributed over 40 films during his tenure that included such successes as the Academy® Award-winning Million Dollar Baby, Runaway Bride, Underworld and Underworld Evolution.

“As a young, dynamic company, we’ve quickly positioned ourselves at the centre of the European production and finance sector over the last eight years with some major successes. Peter’s appointment will forge important relationships with new international partners and build on our exciting slate of titles,” says uMedia CEO Adrian Politowski.

“uMedia already has very successful funding, production, post-production and distribution businesses,” says Peter Rogers. “Adding international sales and finance is a natural progression in the group’s evolution and will allow us to provide a total film service.”

Most recently Rogers has been President of Omega Entertainment, a film production, finance, and distribution company. Conviction, the first film produced by the company, was released by Fox. Directed by Tony Goldwyn, the film stars Hilary Swank, Sam Rockwell, and Minnie Driver. Rogers executive produced and assembled its financing.

Rogers has also acted as a non-exec director of Oceana Media Finance, a $100M film fund controlled by insurance giant American Capital, advising on all its film investments and serving on the fund’s green-light committee. He was formerly a partner in Cobalt Media Group, financing and selling films such as Open Range, House of Sand and Fog, and Swimfan, Managing Director of Chrysalis Films International, and the Sales and Marketing director of J&M Entertainment. Prior to working in the film industry, Rogers served as the Sales and Marketing Director of ITEL, the international TV distribution company owned at the time by HBO and Anglia Television.
