BREAKING: FilmNation Entertainment will handle international sales on Barca, a documentary that Paul Greengrass is directing about the rise of the FC Barcelona soccer team. Richard Brown will produce for Anonymous Content and John Carlin will executive produce. Anonymous Content is financing and handling U.S. sales. “Football is the most popular and fan-driven sport around the world. With Paul’s tremendous talent, this is sure to become the singular film on football,” FilmNation’s Glen Basner said.
Greengrass said, “I’m excited to tell the extraordinary story of Barca and their magnificent achievements under Pep Guardiola on film. They have given the world a rare glimpse of sporting perfection, and memories that will last for as long as the game is played.”
It becomes another movie in the Cannes market for FilmNation, which is selling international on Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring, Pedro Almodovar’s Los Amentes Pasajeros, and the Taylor Lautner-starrer Tracers. FilmNation is also selling the John Hillcoat-directed Lawless and the Jeff Nichols-directed Mud, both of which are playing in competition at the festival.
