The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air alumna Tatyana Ali is set as a regular on BET’s upcoming comedy series Second Generation Wayans, based on the lives of the members of the next generation of the Wayans family. It stars Craig Wayans, Damien Dante Wayans, and George O. Gore II. Ali will play Maya, Damien’s quick-witted personal assistant who struggles to keep the guys in line. She most recently starred in the Martin Lawrence-produced sitcom Love That Girl for TV One and recurred on The Young And The Restless and will next be seen starring in the indie Home Again.

Australian musician-actor-comedian Tim Minchin has landed a major recurring role on the next season of Showtime’s dark comedy series Californication. He will play Atticus Fetch — Bowie, Bono and Lennon all rolled up into one charming yet mad-as-a-hatter rock star. He has been drafted to write the music for the Broadway musical, A Crazy Little Thing Called Love, which is based on the hit romantic comedy of the same name adapted from Hank Moody’s (David Duchovny) breakthrough novel God Hates Us All. Atticus tries to enlist Hank to pen the book for the musical, promising him that together they will turn it into a “rock opera” about “love conquering all.” The role is a case of art imitating life for Minchin, who wrote Matilda: The Musical, based on Roald Dahl’s novel, which has been staged in London’s West End and is coming to Broadway in 2014. He has toured in the UK (including at the O2), Australia (including at the Sydney Opera House) and in North America. Minchin also has done work as a stage actor.

Taylor Cole (The Event) has booked an 8-episode arc on the upcoming season of A&E’s The Glades. She will play Jeniffer Starke, the dynamic and clearly in-control new Bureau Chief, a former prosecuting attorney and now high-ranking member of the board. Cole, repped by TalentWorks and manager Joannie Burstein, recurred heavily on CSI: Miami this season.
